Jack Cox and Kerry Love
ECR Fellow
s

Kerry and Jack are conducting a History Lab + Early Career Survey examining history and related subjects. This will include exploring the place of these subjects in higher education and the support universities offer ECRs.  They will analyse and report on the results of the survey as well as developing ethical guidelines and approval prior to dissemination

Jack Cox is a PGR studying convict transportation to the penal colonies in America, Australia and across British-occupied India. His research interests fall under the broader heading of the history of crime. Predominantly, convict transportation. This includes to the American colonies, the penal colonies in Australia, and across British-occupied India.

He is also interested in online databases such as The Old Bailey Online and Digital Panopticon. Moreover, how these can be used in areas such as family history and other historical disciplines where they are as yet under-utilised.

Kerry Love was awarded her PhD from the University of Northampton in January 2026. She then worked in secondary teaching and returned to working in the Widening Participation team at UON after working with them on outreach during her PhD. Her PhD was on British Political Material Culture 1780-1832, and she is interested in political history, gender history, and radical history in the 18th and 19th centuries. She is interested in numismatics and completed an internship at the Royal Mint Museum cataloguing Sarah Sophia Banks’ tokens in their collection and is a member of the British Numismatic Society and an Associate Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. She is interested in access to HE and the humanities and developed this interest through her career in widening participation. She applied for this role to ensure policy discussions accurately reflect the ECR landscape, as well as to improve the visibility of professional services careers to ECRs in History, given the utility of our skills.
