Dr Tom Cryer
Comms Officer (Website)

Dr Tom Cryer is a historian of education, ideas, and memory in the twentieth-century United States. He is currently a Fixed-Term Departmental Lecturer at St Anne’s College, Oxford, and completed his PhD at UCL’s Institute of the Americas in 2025. His research has been published in journals including Modern American History, Modern Intellectual History, and the Journal of American Studies, and he is currently completing his first monograph, an intellectual biography of the historian John Hope Franklin. Tom joins HistoryLab+ having been Seminar Convenor (2023-2024) and Chair (2024-2025) of our affiliate association, History Lab.
